Synopsis

Films by director Marco KREUZPAINTNER are always about journeys, such as Trade and Sommersturm. Krabat is similar in this way. Based in the medieval times, this film is about the protagonist Krabat who grows his powers after meeting a sorcerer. The movie focuses on Krabat"s inner struggle when he has to abandon his master. This movie has all the elements of a fairy tale, with computer graphics focusing on fantasy and a narrator"s voice telling the lesson that "everything is valuable". According to Daniel Brühl (Good Bye Lenin!, The Edukators) who stars as Krabat"s mentor, "This was the first movie I decided to star in without even reading the script because I trust the director"s abilities." Although the movie lacks somewhat in terms of visual effects, it certainly has solid production and a captivating story. (HUH Nam Woong)
