The surveillance specialist Zimin receives an order for video observation on Irina, a pharmacist, and installs bugs and camera in her place. He begins the 24-hour observation and delves into her miserable life, breaking up with a married man or selling away furniture on a whim. With no signs of suspicion, Zimin becomes personally attached to Irina's life before he realizes it. Suddenly the news comes that he has made a mistake of having a wrong subject under observation. Larisa SADILOVA made her directorial debut with the award-winning Happy Birthday!, and her second feature With Love, Lilly was also well received to the critics. Her latest film, Nothing Personal is an exceptional mystery melodrama with the impression of virtues in Rear Window and The Lives Of Others. Started off as a typical surveillance thriller, the movie makes a radical turn into a melodrama at the point where Zimin realizes he had a wrong address. The solitude of leading characters is amplified through bleak visions of the surveillance camera along with the director's distanced composedness. (Jin PARK)
