Synopsis
11-year-old Zaffan is a confident and free-spirited girl, until she experiences horrifying physical changes to her body. While her emotions and urges are constantly flipping from one extreme to the next, she realises that her body itself is morphing at an alarming and frightening rate. Struggling to maintain being normal at school, Zaffan is in denial of her inevitable changes and tries to cover her grotesque self. Her body however reaches a state where she is no longer able to hide it anymore and all hysteria breaks loose - teenage girls drop to the school floors in fits, turning it into an epidemic spread across the village. Rumours about Zaffan’s monstrous transformation have made everyone fear her. Labelled as a demon, Zaffan faces confinement and isolation... that is until Zaffan decides to reveal her true self to the world.

Amanda EU Amanda has directed short films based in Malaysia. Her previous short Lagi Senang Jaga Sekandang Lembu(2017) premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival. Amanda is an alumna of Berlinale Talents Campus and Locarno Filmmakers Academy. In her work, she likes to explore the female body and identity within the context of South East Asia.

Fei Ling FOO Fei Ling FOO is an independent film producer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Fei is an alumna of Rotterdam Lab and European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs’ Ties-That-Bind workshop. She has produced If It’s Not Now, Then When?(2012) and Voyage to Terengganu(2016).
