Synopsis

Winnie likes to write her diary and make puppets at home. She is discarded by her boyfriend Seth. She misses him. One day, she goes to his company to see him. Being unable to find him, she happens to meet Ray, who resembles Seth. She opens her heart to him and invites him to her house. She continuously meets him at her house. In the meantime, she hears some strange sound at times and their love starts to fall apart. Diary(2006) is made by the Pang brothers, who directed , a Hollywood horror film released in 2007. They are from Hong Kong, but they made a name for themselves for a series of horror hits such as The Eyes working in Thailand, and they advanced into Hollywood afterward. As supposed, Diary is a unique movie merging the genre style of western and eastern horror films with an oriental theme. Ostensibly, it looks like a horror film, but it is somewhat different from a typical one which makes us feel frightened and curious. The movie's attractions are the storyline where the fragments of the heroine's illusion are tangled and the process in which they are untangled like a puzzle. A little sad but beautiful movie, which deals with the suffering of love and loneliness and a tragedy resulting from an obsession in a fantastic manner, just like the monologue of the heroine: How can I make him love me forever? The outstanding acting performance by new Taiwan and Hong Kong movie stars such as Charlene Choi, Shwan Yue and Isbella Leong is another attraction of this movie. (LEE Woo Seok)
