Synopsis

The Opening Film of the 15th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival(PiFan) is Bollywood the Greatest Love Story Ever Told which made it to this year"s Cannes Film Festival. Bollywood films have created in the popular style representative of India’s cinema industry, now stand firm as one of Asia’s major cultural resources with sufficient ripple power to reach all corners of the globe. Also in Korea, several Bollywood movies have been shown with much heated response. The genre is now being combined with fantasy and science fiction to increase the fun factor while catering to a global audience.
Rather than giving an extensive account of the history of Bollywood films, Bollywood the Greatest Love Story Ever Told entertains the eyes and ears of the viewers for the entire 81 minutes, focusing on dazzling scenes that display the charms of the Bollywood films. In between, however, some old newsreels are featured in which 20th century Indian history is relived, and directors and stars who have the made the Bollywood film industry what it is today reminisce the past. Ever since our 7th edition in 2003, when we assigned a special section for Bollywood films, PiFan has been introducing new Bollywood movies every year with special affection. By opening the 15th Festival with Bollywood, PiFan is no longer exclusive property of a few movie fanatics, but now attempting to meet a greater number of Korean moviegoers, and would also like to be seen as being more than “a festival for film fanatics” and invite more people to join us in the 11 days of “Love, Fantasy and Adventure.”

Diretor

Rakeysh Omprakash MEHRA

Born in 1963, India. He graduated from the prestigious Sri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University. Rang De Basanti (2006), with an ensemble of Indian and International cast. The film has achieved huge critical acclaim along with being the second highest box office grosser of the decade. Delhi-6 (2009) has achieved tremendous critical acclaim and was elected for the prestigious Venice Film Festival and also won two National Awards.

Jeff ZIMBALIST

Born in 1978, USA. He is an American documentary filmmaker best known for his films Favela Rising (2005), The Two Escobars (2010). As a director, cinematographer and editor, Zimbalist"s work has been broadcast on HBO, PBS, ESPN, Channel 4, Sundance Channel, BET, BBC, and WE television.
