Program Note

He can do all that a human can and more but can't lie and he feeds on electricity. He is Andro-humanoid robot Chiti. One day, Dr. Vasi who created Chiti, upgrades Chiti’s processor and simulates human emotions. He can now feel, and the first feeling that he discovers is Love. Will Dr. Vasi’s own creation destroy him?

Shankar began his career as an assistant to film directors. In 1993, he made his directional debut through Gentleman. In 1996, he colloborated with Kamal Haasan in Indian. The film was both critically acclaimed and a commercial success as well. The film was selected as the country"s submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He has directed numerous extraordinary films such as Sivaji, and it was a huge hit in India with the fact that it was made on the highest film budget in India.
