Program Note

A woman wakes up in a secluded room. Confused as to who and where she is, a voice comes from the next room, calling her as “Anne” and warning her of impending events. The woman is terrified and has seizures upon realizing that her face keeps changing, but she eventually falls into a deep sleep, under the care of doctors and nurses. Planning her escape, she discovers the presence of a demonic figure with a deer’s face, and attempts to flee, along with other women in similar circumstances. However, they are brutally murdered by the deer-faced entity, and this process repeats like a nightmare. This film combines the grammar of slasher movies with elements of mystery, thriller, and horror genres. It delves into the reasons why the women were being held captive, why they all share the name “Anne”, why their faces keep changing, and the nature of the deer-faced entity that indiscriminately kills them. It offers a critical perspective on the identity confusion and the sense of alienation faced by the younger generation, which is heavily influenced by video games and social media. The film also provides the pleasure of encountering the charisma of young actresses, who are currently leading the Thai film industry. (KIM Young-woo)
