Program Note
Dennis and Mia are a couple on a retreat to Dennis’ family home to spend some alone time together to reconnect. Their getaway is interrupted by the arrival of Roger, Dennis’ eccentric, estranged older brother with a troubled past. Series of odd encounters and Dennis’s heightened hysteria leads to an unpredictable end. Scott Friend writes, directs and stars in his feature directorial debut, a hallucinatory tale of family reunion gone wrong. Joined by masterly crafted, hypnotizing camerawork by Dan Debrey, Mr. Friend skillfully unfolds the drama between the characters and the paranoia his character goes through, resulting in something real with nightmarish elements we all hope to avoid. (Jongsuk Thomas NAM)
