Program Note

Sophie and Vincent run a local butcher’s. However, the shop and their marriage are on the verge of bankruptcy while competing with a large meat factory. One day, Vincent accidentally kills a vegetarian activist who stormed his shop, turning the body into ham in a panic, and Sophie sells it. This unusual ham hits the jackpot, and the shop overflows with customers. Having tasted this sweet recovery, they now go out hunting to get the ingredients for their special ham. Despite being about cannibalism and serial murder, Some Like It Rare is a sidesplitting gore comedy eliciting strange empathy for the two protagonists, who repeatedly murder and process the meat. Renowned stand-up comedian and actor, Fabrice Eboué as Vincent and Marina Foïs as Sophie work in perfect harmony, and portray meticulous views on such modern social issues as capital, race, class and political correctness, which are all imbued throughout the story. Fabrice EBOUÉ

After performing in various Parisian café-theatres and cabarets, Fabrice Eboué puts on in 2000 his first shows. He's then spotted by Jamel Debouzze and launches himself into the adventure of the Jamel Comedy Club, the principle of which is to showcase young stand-ups. The show opens up to him the doors of television and radio where he becomes known for his dark humour. In parallel, after playing in shorts, he takes his first steps in the cinema in the comedy Fatal, directed by and starring Michaël Youn. The year 2011 marks a turning point for him since he co-directs, co-writes and co-stars in Back to Square One, along with his friend Thomas N'Gijol, met at the Jamel Comedy Club.
