Dan, a photography major senior always has his graduation work rejected. His professor lends his SLR film camera, saying Dan needs to put more artistic value into his work. It subsequently gets better and better, but the camera brings death to the subjects, as if it is cursed. What choice will Dan make after discovering the evil force in the camera? SLR, invited to the NAFF Project Spotlight in 2014, has finally been completed. It is a collaboration of two directors, Mark & ED, a long time after their Lhong aka, Lost In Bangkok of 2012. Elements hard to find these days, such as a film camera, dark room, photo lab and a view finder give an aura to the myth of the camera, “the apparatus that take away a human soul”. A youth with such an uncertain future and a mentor willing to sell his soul for his art make the plot of this horror movie even more convincing. (Ellen Y. D. KIM)
