The violent portrayal of the female body serves both as a dramatic, psychological motive for revenge and as an unfiltered display of the exploitative strategies typical of the sexploitation genre. However, the film was subjected to 25 minutes of cuts by Swedish authorities due to its sexually explicit content and violence before it could be released. praised as the inspiration for Elle Driver in Kill Bill (2003), Madeleine’s revenge continued to influence subsequent works, including the 1970s classic I Spit on Your Grave (1978) and has become a prototype for 21st-century women’s revenge films reinvented by feminist appropriation.
