Program Note
The debate about the tension between technology and humanity, the independence of capital and creation, has a rich history and has seen a variety of attempts. To celebrate the launch of the Samsung Galaxy 24, director Han Jun-hee and actress Ko Minsi have collaborated on a short film series that can be seen as yet another intelligent attempt to address these questions. Garnering 50 million views across all channels within a month of release, the series, which features Ko Minsi portraying different characters, weaves their experiences into four tightly connected episodes: A Stranger in the Middle of the Day, Knock in the Dark, Winning 9PM, and The Morning I Wanted. Each episode captures the charm of different genres—melodrama, horror, action, fantasy—while exploring themes such as communication and connection through simultaneous interpretation, cameras that might capture even the uncapturable, the fantasy of good triumphing over evil in a game, and even the longing for departed loved ones that a search function can address. Along with the commercial responsibilities, the narrative and genre completion of each episode are also not neglected. Han Jun-hee’s talent as a storyteller is further highlighted by his short film Understanding Moives (2013), which is also being shown after ‘S24 Hours MOVIE SERIES.’ (MO Eun-young)
