Program Note

For Do-cheol (JUNG Woo-sung), he is all about boxing. However, Do-cheol loses the match against his junior and leaves the ring showing symptoms of a punch-drunk. Do-cheol meets his age, Hong -gi (LEE Jung-jae), at the private detective where he visits for a job. If boxing is everything for Do-cheol, it is money for Hong-gi. He is willing to do whatever it takes to make money. As he continues to cheat and lie, getting into trouble with a local gang, Do-cheol gets caught up in the vortex. The two people, who seemed totally unlikely to get along, are now bound to have a relationship that can only be explained by friendship. And Do-cheol tries to do the boxing again. JUNG Woo-sung starring in the film The Asphalt Man (1995) and Beat (1997) completes the epic of youth in this film by the native honesty of Jung Woosung with the spirit of no compromise. Jung Woo-sung and Lee Jung-jae made a wonderful harmony with each other in the buddy film, City of the Rising Sun, where the collaboration is particularly important as well as the attractions of the two characters, Do-cheol and Hong-gi. The friendship between the two actors has continued after this film. (JEONG Ji-hye)
