Program Note

Dohoi(Kim Nu-rim), a high school student living with his father who runs a Taekwondo gym in a rural area, despises the violent and brutal atmosphere of his home. One day, his cheerful and bright peer, Juyoung(Lee Sun), who dreams of going to college with a Taekwondo major, comes from Seoul. With Juyoung’s arrival, small and large joys begin to fill Dohoi’s previously dark life. However, the oppressive culture symbolized by his father ultimately twists their relationship, and after an unexpected incident forces them apart, they reunite ten years later. This film warmly portrays the transformation of feelings that start with innocent excitement into deep love that embraces and heals each other’s wounds. While the episodes of the two protagonists, moving between past and present, are sometimes depicted with a near-fantasy-like beauty, the greatest pleasure of this film lies in watching the chemistry between the two actresses in these very scenes. The serious face of Kim Nu-rim and the lovely expressiveness of Lee Sun are perfectly blended in this LGBTQ romance film with a mainstream sensibility. (PARK Got)
