Program Note
A year after a Black Friday(post-Thanksgiving sale) tragedy, in which countless people died gruesomely by stampedes of unruly shoppers, the money-hungry store owner prepares another Black Friday sale when the town is terrorized by a mysterious killer wearing a pilgrim mask and outfit, with those responsible for the tragedy are being targeted. For their sakes, it is up to them to find the culprit.
Thanksgiving is Eli Roth’s demented social satire on American consumerism, based on his fictitious trailer from Robert Rodriguez’s 2007 film Grindhouse. The film is also a murder mystery, often employing humorous and exaggerated death sequences. Quite possibly the best Eli Roth-directed film in recent years, Thanksgiving is bound to grace the TV screen as a Thanksgiving horror stable, with a sequel already in production. (Jongsuk Thomas NAM)
