Program Note
Jordan White and Amy Blue, two troubled teens, pick up an adolescent drifter, Xavier Red. Together, the threesome embark on a sex-and-violence-filled journey through an America of psychos and quickie marts. Araki’s provocative feature premiered at Sundance in 1995, but hasn’t been seen again in its complete form until now.
Program Note
Jordan and Amy are teenage lovers who pick up a handsome drifter named X while on the road. During a store robbery, X kills the owner to save Jordan and Amy, thus beginning their lives on the run, and their dynamics gradually change, with X playing the dominant role in many ways. As they continue with their new life of crime, shocking events occur with confusion about their former lives leading to tragic consequences.
Co-produced, co-edited, written, and directed by Gregg Araki, The Doom Generation is the second installment of his “Teenage Apocalypse Trilogy”. The film impeccably mixes fantastic colors, dreamy film scores, and Araki’s twisted sense of humor to bring the doomed lives of Generation Xers, perfectly delivered by the trio of Rose McGowan as Amy, James Duval as Jordan, and Jonathon Schaech as X. BIFAN is proud to bring this 4K restored, unrated seminal edition to the big screen for the first time in Korea. (Jongsuk Thomas NAM)
