Program Note
Professor Nora, accompanied by seven female students, embarks on a journey to an abandoned nuclear laboratory facility for their research. As part of an experiment to investigate the effects of isolation on humans, they surrender their cell phones and must spend the weekend in the confinement of the massive building. However, what they didn’t know was that a strange presence lurks in this place. As one by one they are attacked, they struggle to survive.
Dario Germani’s Anthropophagus II is an ambitious project that exudes infinite passion for the original work, Joe D’Amato’s Antropophagus (or The Grim Reaper), a masterpiece of Italian B-movies. While the original Italian island vacation spot has been swapped for a desolate nuclear facility, the horror of the isolated space and its diverse cannibalistic action still pay homage to the original work. If you watch it in the same way you cheered while watching the original in 1980, it is the perfect film for you. (Jin PARK)
