Synopsis

In Nuevo Rico, a dystopian future version of Puerto Rico, we find a brother and sister who are both musicians. They steal a celestial secret, which suddenly makes them Reggaetón stars. Becoming musical superstars brings them wealth and fame, but they have to pay the price. Nuevo Rico is an animation full of colorful psychedelic visuals, with the astonishing energy of upbeat Reggaetón. It won the Best Animated Short at SXSW Film Festival. (Gina KANG)
