Synopsis

Based on the director's true childhood story in a village in Kedah at the Thailand-Malaysia border. Cheong accidently damages his neighbour Aunty Kaew and Nam’s house which leads to a fight. Nam is soon killed by a truck, Aunty Kaew is no longer seen in the village and Cheong falls sick. Cheong’s wife tries to find a remedy for him and encounters a lady.

CHONG Keataun

Malaysian Chinese, a filmmaker, classic accents collector, performing artist, community arts project curator. In 2017, his short film, Cemetery of Courtesy, invited to the Busan International Film Festival, and he started a documentary series project The Classic Accents. His first feature film, The Story of Southern Islet, won the Best New Director award in the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival.
