Program Note

The Nest by Yim Pil-sung is a psychological thriller that implies various sides of our shaded reality while keeping the tension. The film’s introduction, in which the wall divides a child in the living room and parents in the bedroom, is an effective implication of its theme. This masterpiece projects the images of selfishness of wrecked adults, who have lost emotional connection, and the scene of cold-hearted children, who have been treated as consumables, in the capitalistic society where materials are deified through genre-specific directing. The acting of Jeon Do-yeon emphasizes the chill sweeping across the entire film. (CHO Jae-hwi)
