The Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival’s industry program, B.I.G (BIFAN Industry Gathering), is a program that was launched in 2016 to promote the continuous and balanced growth of the Korean and Asian film industry, as well as to boost the production of genre films. B.I.G is composed of the Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF) Project Market, which was introduced in 2008; Made in Asia, which was created to facilitate collaboration and co-productions within the Asian film industry; and Fantastic Film School, which discovers and cultivates up-and-coming Asian filmmakers. Since becoming a part of the Marché du Film’s Fantastic 7 program in 2019, B.I.G has also grown into a dynamic and influential business platform.

The NAFF Project Market unearths Asian genre projects and has created an online/offline networking program that allows international film industry professionals to interact and hold business meetings to discuss investment and co-production opportunities. The project market started out with two sections (It Project and Project Spotlight), then expanded its domain by adding on the Nordic Genre Invasion, Blood Window, and Sitges Pitchbox sections, through actively pushing ahead with overseas collaborations.

Through the publication of a white paper on the film industry put together by 12 Asian countries and an online panel talk featuring film industry professionals from 7 countries, Made in Asia aims to strengthen the solidarity between Asian filmmakers and gather wisdom from various Asian countries that are working to overcome this difficult period. This year’s NAFF Fantastic Film School will be joined by a number of prominent lecturers, including Tony KAYE, who has directed cinematic masterpieces such as American History X (1998) and Detachment (2011). The pre-recorded lectures for Fantastic Film School will be made available online.
