Synopsis

The leading character, a salesman at a musical instrument company, is about to be fired for the poor performance. He has family to support. Driven to the wall, he got a strange call. He steps into "13 game" for prize money.
Thai film are no longer new. The Shutter and Tom Yum Goonag  gained popularity in Korea. This film also follows these two films' pattern and its story forms an Asian emotional consensus. <13>, scheduled to be unveiled at this year's Pifan, adds popularity and modern style to the concept of Thai films. As widely known, "13" is an ill omen of betrayal and disaster. "13" is symbolized as a mirage of desire for fortune. Numbers, typical characters, and accelerated narrative are very similar to that of Hollywood films. But such typical and familiar pattern produced a reflective adventure film by adopting unique concept of Thailand as a country of Buddhism. The film focuses on showcasing oppression and tough process for self-reflection. This, rather than glorious challenge of Heracles, is an aggregate of pain forcing hard training. By introducing limitless human desire and the philosophy of life, the film effectively describes the eruption of the oppressed in the post-industrialized Asia and how to cope with. (Alice YOO)
