Synopsis

The opening film for the 14th PiFan is The Experiment by Paul SCHEURING, starring Adrien BRODY and Forrest WHITAKER. Based on the German film The Experiment which made a worldwide success in 2001, this Hollywood remake takes the fundamental story and elements and unravels them in a more elaborate and grounded manner to capture the attention of the audience.

Twenty six individuals are selected as test subjects for a psychology experiment to explore human nature. They are divided into prisoners and guards and carry out their duties in an enclosed temporary prison for 14 days. The participants are unconfortable with the surveillance cameras and their environment at first, but they soon fall into their riles and violence between the guards and the prisoners reaches its peak. The director is no other than Paul SCHEURING, who wrote, produced, and directed the American TV series Prison Break. The precisely laid out story and its attractive theme that takes place in a prison is made just as enthralling as the TV series that took the world by storm through the tension-packed psychological warfare among the characters.
