Logline

In the dead of night, a mysterious man barges in on a family. Strange and frightening events ensue in this locked-room mystery.

Synopsis

A family of a mother, a son, and a daughter is visited by an uninvited guest. One day at 1 A.M., a neighbor downstairs comes up with a noise complaint issue. The family is taken aback as they were all quietly sleeping in their own rooms. What noise? To what degree should they trust this man’s unbelievable words?

Strange phenomena happen since his visit, and the family is disturbed and wonders what is causing such weird incidents. Then, the man pulls out and shows a mysterious black plastic bag.

What on earth is inside it?

The family’s doubts grow beyond control.
The daughter starts digging up the man’s deal.
As she approaches the truth about him, a bigger mystery awaits.

Creator's Statement

Division and hatred are gifts from the devil. We fight all the time because we disagree, look different, and think “we” are right while “they” are wrong.

Who is behind our fight, laughing at us? To drive further the division, to fuel our hatred against each other—that is the true mission of the devil. What is sad is that we have the power to reject the devil but often get helplessly confused and lose control. This, in the form of a fable, is what I imagined for Knock.

The mysterious person barges in on a family and creates a minute crack which leads the family to grow into a big problem. As he stirs up the dark sides of other people, the family becomes more and more suspicious of one another, and in the end, attacks each other physically and emotionally, just as he planned.

In an isolated space called home, the mother, the son, and the daughter each represent different types of people. How they each react to the mysterious man and change their behaviors accordingly are things to watch for in this film.
