Program Note

At the set of the OTT drama Monstrous, something ‘monstrous’ happens to Nayoung (Lee Na-young), a crew member. At dawn, someone knocks on the door, but when she looks out there’s no-one there. Byung-yoon (Choi Byung-yoon), Na-young’s ex-boyfriend and crew member of Monstrous, installs a camera to find out who he is, and they see a man who died a few years ago in the abandoned house they visited for location purposes. It seems Na-young is possessed by the ghost. Seen is a fake documentary designed as if real with a selfie camera. Considering Monstrous is a horror dealing with supernatural phenomena, Seen started out with the intention of showing how we would react differently if such a thing actually happened. Seen, which expanded the 10-minute six-part series into a theater feature, is an independent and more interesting work when connected to Monstrous. (HUH Namwoong)
