Fernando decides to rob a bank in Acassuso in the north of Buenos Aires. Former thief, Luis, is initially not convinced by the idea but is soon captivated by Fernando’s elaborate plan, one last time betting his life on pulling off a bank job. As the five armed robbers raid the bank, the police special forces and a hostage negotiator arrive on the scene, but stopping the crooks is far from easy. When the police enter the building, some twists await. 

The bank raid on which this film is based actually happened in Acassuso in 2006. This well-known event in Argentinian history also inspired the Netflix series Money Heist. Made through detailed historical research into the real event, this comic action movie, Heist of the Century offers thrills peculiar to caper movies from start to finish. Diego Peretti and Guillermo Francella, who play Fernando and Luis, exude the charm one would expect from Argentina’s top actors. (Jin PARK)
