Program Note

In a spaceship so old it is unknown how long it has been in space, Prahastha is repairing the ship alone, just like any other day. This spaceship is where “Post Death Transition Services” occur, where dead people are recycled for rebirth and sent back to Earth. However, Prahastha is not just an astronaut but also a demon. He handles the goods arriving daily, i.e. the dead, and takes care of their reincarnation, and then a new assistant, Yuvishka, is dispatched from the headquarters. She is the most popular demon and has a new healing skill.

Arati Kadav’s debut feature film Cargo is a fable told in the science fiction format. Her unique imagination stands out as she recreates the motives of Hindu mythology and reincarnation into a modern science fiction movie in which everyone has their own story to tell, even the demons.
