A girl borrows a Polaroid camera from a senior at School. The girl has been in love with the boy for the longest time. While the boy is explaining how to use the Polaroid, she does not hear the words. Her eyes are set on the boy’s lips.

A girl comes to borrow a Polaroid camera from her senior. The senior explains to her how to operate the camera, but the girl can’t raise her head easily. Like a Polaroid camera that captures moments, this film captures the feelings of love like as thrill, shyness, excitement or coldness. How to Operate a Polariod Camera is director Kim Jong-kwan’s film, which captures the ripples of the emotions and it’s a way how the director works his film. It is also a work that discovered actor Jung Yu-mi. (MO Eun-young)

KIM Jong-kwan

Kim Jong-kwan graduated from the Seoul Institute of Arts and majored in film. He has produced numerous short films, including How to Operate a Polaroid Camera, which made him well-known. Since then, he directed feature films like: Come, Closer (2010), Worst Woman (2015) and The Table (2016).
