Program Note

The story begins with a single setting. A man wakes up from the bathtub with one of his kidney missing. This is a story written by someone and inside the story, there is the writer, the written and the one who wants to film the writings. The writer feels sympathy for the written ending, and the written tries to write a new story to change his destiny. And the person trying to shoot the writing tries to complete the story by finding the missing ending. Director Kim Byung-woo’s 2007 film, Written is a story about a writer, director and actor and is about a man who is searching for his secret after being thrown into reality. The film, which was produced with a budget of 20 million won, was filmed 80 percent in a movie set and maximizes it’s thrill through artificial lighting, harsh colors and shaky cameras. It is the second feature film by Kim Byung-woo, who proved his potential for commercial blockbusters with his previous film The Terror, Live. (MO Eun-young)
