Program Note

When a new king comes to power, he defines nature as ‘dirty’, separating it from humans by creating the ‘Nature Control State’. Looking for his mother, Robin meets a wild boy named Wolf in the forest; they have adventures together in restoring the balance between humans and nature.

Program Note

Few films can tell the story about the problem of environment and human as this film does. It is a film of the nature, by the nature and for the nature. It looks like the homage to Tarzan and The Jungle Book basically. It describes the situation of the era that the nature is taboo in the near future around twenty two century. The images go slowly and create a quiet atmosphere. Then, the images flow with the same speed but the story starts to speed up. The turning point is when a girl, Robin comes into the nature, which is taboo, to find her mother and runs into a boy there accidently. And two of them start to explore the forbidden woods. The action scenes exploded in the middle of the film are flowing and smooth like the one of Prince of Persia. It shows twists and turns like a rollercoaster. It almost breaks down the stronghold of The Usual Suspect. The pop art style of drawing contributes to the nuance of this film. It delivers the massage that the nature is important by presenting the pleasure of genre attractively, not tritely. It shows the true value of animation which converts from the dystopia to Utopia.
