Program Note

Aiko is fixated by the desire to find the man who killed her parents when she was a child. Aiko clearly remembers that he had a scorpion tattoo. One day, when she is punishing a drug dealer, she found a Kaga’s scorpion tattoo. She calmly prepares for battle. Director Miyano Keiji finished the film in a dark, dry atmosphere reminiscent of Hong Kong Noir, similar to his first feature film, Furyo Shonen 3,000Nin no Atama . This film is rare for these days since it is sincere and tragic. The setting of a solitary killer that has become a murder machine with past trauma is typical, but the pleasures of this film genres customs cannot be ignored. It is impressive that Ji-young’s performance is consistent without and expression until she finally explodes.  Furthermore, Yuno appear to give unexpected tension and vitality to the drama.
