Program Note

A man and his girlfriend are living a quiet and blissful life in the mountains, when a maniacal cult breaks in, destroys their home and slaughters the girlfriend. With his psyche shattered and his life in pieces, the man embarks on a wave of brutal vengeance.

Program Note

Red is a quiet lumberjack who lives humbly in a wood cabin in the mountains with his love of life, Mandy. Unfortunately, their serene, intimate life is interrupted by a satanic cult passing through the area, with their leader Jeremiah marking Mandy as his potential disciple and abducting her. Crushed by these evil forces, both physically and mentally, Red sets out to exact unfathomably bloody revenge on the group as he falls downward spiral with narcotics and more. Mandy is a bizarre, bloody film with hallucinatory sequences a la 70’s-80’s psychedelic horrors (film is set in 1983.) The film also signals the triumphant return of Nicolas Cage as he offers his intense, tour-de-force performance (including the epic bathroom scene.) Director Panos Cosmatos has found a perfect partner in crime for his phantasmagorical journey into the heart of darkness, as Mr. Cage unleashes a logic defying rampage to venge for Mandy.
