Program Note

O the final installment in King Naresuan series, the epic of the most acclaimed king of Thailand, King Naresuan the Great. Enraged over the loss of his son, the Burmese king commands to kill King Naresuan’s sister. The king immediately musters his army to occupy Pegu and burn it to the ground.

Chatrichalerm YUKOL

Born in 1942, Prince Yukol graduated from UCLA with a degree in geology and minor in film studies. He became one of Thailand’s most pioneering filmmakers and was invited as a jury member for Berlin International Film Festival in 1981. His films include The Elephant Keeper (1987), Suriyothai (2001), and The Overture (2004).
