Program Note

Childhood sweethearts Devdas and Paro are lovers whose marriage plans are thwarted by their parents, causing a rift between the two families and leaving Paro to be married off to a rich older man. Tormented by his longing for Paro, Devdas turns to alcohol for comfort.(7th edition)

Born in 1963 in Mumbai, Bansail graduated from Film and Television Institute of India. As a Director, producer, screenwriter, and music composer of India, his filmography includes Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), Devdas (2002), and Bajirao Mastani which won the National Award for Best Direction.
