Program Note

In the 1980s, a twelve-year-old boy hides overwhelming insecurities behind his over-confidence. Yet, he gets infuriated over his younger brother with good grades and affection from the girl next door. Based on the original novel, the film depicts a coming-of-age story set in the Vietnam.

Victor VU

Born in 1975, North Hollywood, the Vietnamese American film director and screenwriter Vu graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in film production from Loyola Marymount University. His films include awards-winning Passport to Love (2009), Blood Letter (2012), and Scandal (2012).
