Program Note

Films of the world-renowned Sion Sono cause controversies; but that is who he is: Sion Sono. Yet, the biographical documentary follows the making of The Whispering Star to unveil his implicit dilemmas and inner anxiety kept disguised behind his disputable films.

Director

OSHIMA Arata

Born in 1969 as the son of the legendary director Oshima Nagisa, Oshima Arata studied at Waseda University and entered Fuji Television Network to direct various documentary programs focusing on Japanese artists such as Sono Sion and Terajima Shinobu. In 2007, he made his feature debut. The Sion Sono is his second feature.
