Program Note

A young and coquettish Akano may be at time human and at other a red goldfish, but is in love with an elderly writer, Ren. But as his ex-lover appears as a ghost, the relationship turns into a love triangle.

Director

ISHII Gakuryu

Ishii was born in 1957 and studied at Nihon University College of Art. He directed films such as Angel Dust (1994) and Labyrinth of Dreams (1997) which were highly praised by many international film festivals and directors including Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese. His latest films include The Flower of Shanidar (2013) and That’s It (2015).
