The 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN, Festival Director: SHIN Chul) has unveiled two sub-posters, following the widely praised main poster that drew attention for its unique and creative approach. These newly released visuals continue to stimulate the imagination and broaden the festival's artistic narrative.

The sub-posters are the result of another collaboration between Studio Freewillusion and artist Shin-yang Park. While the main poster explored paradoxical and dynamic boundaries through a fusion of fine art and AI technology, the sub-posters push those boundaries even further, offering new possibilities for storytelling.

Based on Shin-yang Park’s original artwork Donkey 13, the sub-posters reinterpret the symbolism and narrative of the original piece using AI technology, expanding it both visually and spatially. At the center of the posters is Donkey 13, a symbolic figure representing the artist, surrounded by a square frame. This frame, expanded through AI’s “Expander” functionality, visually unfolds the imagined world beyond the borders of the original canvas.

The “Expander” function used in the posters is an AI technology commonly applied in video production, allowing for the seamless extension of images and footage to create new space beyond the original frame. Through this technique, the once static donkey on canvas ventures into a limitless realm of imagination, resulting in a richer, more immersive narrative.

BIFAN’s slogan in the posters — “Stay Strange” — and the message “EXPAND YOUR FRAME” reflect the direction of this year’s festival, which aims to explore new possibilities beyond conventional boundaries. By integrating film, exhibition, gaming, and other art forms with cutting-edge technologies, BIFAN continues its evolution into a central hub for entertainment technology — the future of “Enter-AI Tech.”

Shin-yang Park, the artist behind this year’s original poster artworks, has long developed a body of work inspired by donkeys. Regarding the motif, Park remarked, “The donkey is my unique alter ego, but it also represents all of us. This is the beauty and meaning of art itself.”

The 29th edition of BIFAN will be held from July 3 to July 13 in various venues across Bucheon City.
