The 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN, Festival Director: Shin Chul) is calling for project submissions for the BIFAN+ NAFF Project Market, for the sections ‘It Project’, ‘Cannes Fantastic 7’, and ‘Work in Progress’.
The deadline for submissions for the ‘It Project’, a program to discover fantastic film projects in Asia, is Tuesday, April 15, at 24:00. This year's ‘It Project’ is open to Korean and international feature film and series projects. Feature film projects must have a minimum running time of 60 minutes, and series projects must have a minimum running time of 40 minutes per episode. Series projects must include at least two episodes in the treatment. Only unfinished projects that have not been fully produced or financed are eligible for submission. Early bird submissions are open until February, and regular submissions are open until April 15. The submission fee is KRW30,000 for early bird submissions and KRW50,000 for regular submissions.
Selected projects will each receive four(4) nights of accommodation for the director and producer, a travel support for the director, as well as a badge to attend the industry program BIFAN+'. The project business meetings held during the festival will offer an opportunity to meet with genre film producers, investors, and distributors from around the world to seek investment, co-production, and distribution. Cash and in-kind support prizes will be awarded to outstanding projects selected through a jury evaluation process. Detailed information about the awards will be announced later.
The deadline for submissions for the ‘Cannes Fantastic 7’ is Friday, February 28 at 24:00. Feature-length projects with a running time of 60 minutes or longer that have completed shooting and can submit a rough cut along with a shooting script are eligible for submission. Launched in 2019 by the Marché du Film, ‘Cannes Fantastic 7’ aims to establish a network among international genre film festivals to promote genre cinema and nurture emerging international talents. The director and the producer of the selected ‘Cannes Fantastic 7’ project will have the opportunity to participate in the Cannes Film Market's Fantastic 7 pitching event and the networking program Fantastic Mixer in May. The entry fee is KRW30,000.
'Work in Progress' is dedicated to projects in post-production stage; a shooting script and a rough cut must be submitted. Both feature and series projects are eligible. Feature film projects must have a running time of at least 60 minutes, while series projects must have a running time of at least 40 minutes per episode. Early bird submissions are open until February 28, and regular submissions are open until April 15. The submission fee is KRW30,000 for early bird submissions and KRW50,000 for regular submissions. Directors and producers of selected projects will each receive four(4) nights of accommodation and a badge to attend the industry program BIFAN+. They will also have the opportunity to hold one-on-one business meetings with film industry professionals from around the world.
