Synopsis

January 1951, in the snow-buried mountains of Gangwon Province, wounded soldier Kim Cheolsu collapses in an abandoned farmhouse, separated from his unit during the Korean War. A child-like goblin appears before him. The goblin, who survives by consuming human stories, proposes a bargain: "Tell me your story, and I’ll grant you one wish." Cheolsu recounts his life — fleeing across the 38th parallel from Hamgyeong Province, meeting his wife Young-hee, losing a daughter at the age of two, surviving the battlefield. In return, the goblin shows him two possible futures.
