Synopsis
Ryuho lives a desolate life. He lives alone in a barren house, its concrete walls stained with mold, untouched by sunlight. He eats cold rice soaked in water, wasting his days staring at the television screen, flipping through endless channels.
One day, he comes across something strange on the screen: a man who looks exactly like him. But unlike Ryuho, the man has lost one of his legs. And yet, he lived a happy life with his wife and young son in a house full of warmth and tranquility. After discovering this channel, Ryuho slowly begins to yearn for the life that was never his.
For decades, mass media have presented the traditional family as one of the most recognizable symbols of success. Yet, in real life, the meanings of happiness, love, and success differ from person to person. (2026) follows Ryuho, a man who becomes obsessed with the idea of the family he sees inside an old television screen, and explores the disparity between the image of an ideal family and the reality.
