Synopsis

In a future ruled by the giant alien race known as the Draags, the small human-like beings called Oms are regarded as little more than pets or pests. Raised by a young Draag girl named Tiva, an Om named Terr gains access to Draag language and knowledge through an educational device and eventually escapes to join the wild Oms.
Terr helps his fellow Oms build a new community, spreading literacy, knowledge, and technology. As they learn to survive and resist Draag domination, the seeds of rebellion begin to grow. Though the Draags repeatedly carry out extermination campaigns under the guise of population control, the Oms refuse to be crushed.
Eventually, the Oms acquire the power to threaten a sacred ritual essential to the Draags' survival. Faced with the prospect of mutual destruction, the two species stand at a crossroads. In the end, they choose coexistence over annihilation.
