Program Note

Can zombie horror and family drama coexist? My Dad Is a Zombie finds a surprisingly convincing answer. For Sung-jun, a bit-part actor who specializes in zombie roles, his son Jun-hee is everything—the reason he endures it all. By chance, Sung-jun gets a chance at a more substantial role, only to see the opportunity fall through and find himself humiliated by the lead actor. Just as he prepares to leave everything behind and make a fresh start with his son, one final chance comes his way. Directed by Kwak Kyung-taek and Kang Min-woo, My Dad Is a Zombie is a family film where sorrow and laughter coexist, a bittersweet film in the fullest sense. Sung-jun always tries to appear cheerful in front of his son, but his own life may demand more endurance than any zombie role he plays.
