Program Note

A film about a broken relationship, this is Polaris Bank's feature directorial debut, in which he co-wrote and co-starred with his real-life partner, Mor Cohen. Throughout the film, it's hard to know what's real and what's made up, and that ambiguity is what makes this film truly original. Running at an economical seventy-five minutes, the location footage was shot entirely by them, but every one of those feels interesting and compelling, daring audiences to try to look away and avoid the uneasiness that comes from these two being alone in a remote area and at each other's throats. The results are a couple transferring the worst parts of their own marriage into something audiences can see and learn from, and which impressively hits dramatic and comedic beats. This is a thought-provoking 'relationship horror' tale. (Jongsuk Thomas Nam)
