Program Note

'Bond.' 'Faith.' 'Life.' 'Power.' 'Love.' 'Apocalypse.' Six short films unfold, each exploring universal themes that lie close to the human experience through a distinctly different animation style. Set within a future society, these works frame essential questions about human desire and fear, belief and relationships — examining the human condition as it emerges all the more vividly against the backdrop of a cold and highly engineered technological civilization. The cultural imagination and sensibility of Taiwan, woven throughout each story, lend the series a charm entirely its own. Science fiction is no longer a far-fetched tale of some distant future. It has become, if anything, another mirror held up to contemporary society and the human condition itself. Grounded in compelling imagination and outstanding visual craftsmanship, these films offer rich entertainment while posing weighty questions that invite audiences to look again at the era we are living in. Through a diverse landscape of futures shaped by directors with distinct artistic identities and technical sensibilities, the series delivers both the pleasures of genre and the depth of genuine reflection.
