Program Note
Tom, Suzanne, and Derek—three siblings grieving the loss of their grandmother—spend their first weekend without her alongside their grandfather, who has fallen into deep sorrow and fatigue. Remembering the magical stories their grandmother used to tell them as children, Suzanne takes the lead and steps into the role of storyteller, just like their grandmother once did. Though it's a difficult time for all, the siblings begin to take turns crafting whimsical tales, each adding their own imagination. Through adventures, humor, and fantasy, the once somber home gradually fills with warmth, laughter, and life again. Tales from the Magic Garden is a lovingly crafted stop-motion animation that gently embraces sorrow with love and imagination. It's a heartfelt story that reminds us of the importance of familial bonds—something easily forgotten with time. Every meticulously crafted scene overflows with warmth, wonder, and the enchanting power of stories. (Kani KIM)
