Program Note
Su-jin(Son Yejin), who comes from a wealthy and stable family and has a successful career as a designer, wants to marry. Chul-soo(Jung Woo-sung), on the other hand, hesitates because of their differences. Raised without parental support and working on construction sites while dreaming of becoming an architect, his life contrasts sharply with hers. Besides, her ability to care for those around her and always maintain a positive outlook is admirable but seems quite foreign to him, as he has lived an isolated life. Despite their differences, Su-jin¡¯s unwavering commitment to love gradually opens Chul-soo¡¯s heart.
The film captures one of the extraordinary aspects of love—lovers becoming each other¡¯s savior. The story unfortunately takes a dramatic turn when her habitual forgetfulness is diagnosed as Alzheimer¡¯s, but even then, their commitment to each other remains unshaken. Attracting over 2.5 million viewers, the film has left a significant mark on the genre of Korean melodrama. Son Yejin and Jung Woo-sung lead the narrative, avoiding the typical clichés when portraying a story of unconditional love. (CHA Hanbi)
