Program Note

Showgirls Lorelei Lee and Dorothy Shaw travel to Paris, pursued by a private detective hired by the suspicious father of Lorelei's fiancé, as well as a rich, enamored old man and many other doting admirers.

Program Note

In 1950s, the gure of Marilyn Monroe which put the concept of “blonde bombshell” on the ideal image of women was an icon of the era. However, in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes working with the god of genre, Howard Hawks, she made a fool of society parodying the image of herself and exceeded the stereotype given to her. (Jay SOHN)
