Program Note

An omnibus film which young female directors from Japan tell women’s stories with young actresses. What are Japanese women thinking now and how are they living? The self-portrait of women which depicts their career and love, suppression and discrimination against the minority, and sadness and joy of everyday life through each person’s viewpoint is impressive. Matsumoto made her feature directorial debut with A Midsummer Dream in 2014 at the age of 17. The film was invited to Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival. Her second feature Dadadada Seventeen won Jury’s Special Award and Audience Award at Yubari.
