Program Note

In Greece, two women lead lonely lives and dream of escaping it all. Elisabeth is a once ambitious cop, and Rita is the quiet sister of a local lounge singer. A sudden death upsets their small eel-farming town. As village secrets emerge, the women have a chance to become each other’s savior.

Program Note

In the background of the Greek coastal village, Mesolongi, this mad noir lm is lled with sunlight, explores humanity and the food chain in a small closed society through a melancholy despairing character who experiences shocking crimes and mangles with local bigwigs. Angeliki Papoulia gives an intense performance playing the role of Elisabeth, who has been relegated to the role of local police chief, whose life has hit rock bottom and has dealt with it through the use of alcohol, drugs and relationship with a married man.
